Over 3,405 tons of illegal timber were seized in Bago region in the first four months of this year, Xinhua reported quoting state media.

From January to April, the authorities confiscated over 1,916 tons of teak, over 890 tons of hard wood and over 599 tons of other types of timbers in the region.

Despite a curfew, illegal timber extractors are still taking out the timbers from the forest in the region without following the curfew order, leading difficulties for the government staff to take action against the smugglers during the outbreak of the virus, the regional forest department was quoted as saying.
