China releases NLD supporters detained in Ruili

China on Friday afternoon released National League for Democracy (NLD) supporters detained in Ruili, according to Myanmar’s Muse District Administrative Office Deputy Director Maung Maung Than. They were arrested for a procession without permission.

“Two leaders of them have not been freed because they will be questioned by Chinese authorities. The information we gained says that 400 NLD supporters were freed. But, some online users say it was about 900 NLD supporters,” said Maung Maung Than.

On October 8, the Myanmar migrant workers held a peaceful procession, marching from Ruili to Jiegao in China to show their support for NLD. Then they were arrested by Chinese police and sent to a prison in Ruili.
