Election commission reschedules campaign dates after receiving complaint

Kayan National Party (KNP) and National League for Democracy (NLD) parties informed the township election commission concerned that the election campaign dates given to them fell on the same date in Mae Sae Township, Kayah State so the commission reportedly changed the dates assigned for them.

KNP Chairman Khun Bi Too aka Lui Si Nyein said that NLD party informed local election commission that the campaign date given to their candidate and former CM of Kayah State L Phaung Sho in Ho Sae village, Mae Sae village tracts, Mae Sae Township, Kayah State on September 12 coincided with the date given to KNP. A responsible official from Mae Sae Township election commission who wished not to be named confirmed to Mizzima that L Phaung Sho personally made this request to the commission by phone.

The township election commission said they invited candidates from eight political parties and two independent candidates to their office and reassigned the election campaign dates for them not to coincide on the same dates.
