Election expenses of 65 MPs is over 3,500 lakh kyats in Naypyidaw

The total expenses of the 65 MPs who contested the 2020 general election in Naypyidaw is over 3,500 lakh kyats, according to Aung Soe Win, deputy director of the Union Territorial Election sub-Commission.

Among them, Sein Win of the People's Party, who ran for the Pyithu Hluttaw seat in Zabu Thiri Township, did not submit election expenses, according to the sub-commission.

Candidates must submit their election expenses to the relevant sub-commissions within 30 days after the results are announced, and the relevant sub-commissions must submit them to the Union Election Commission within seven days.

Failure to submit election expenses by the due date will result in disqualified candidates for election they will not be eligible to run in the by-elections.

Aung Soe Win said the Union Election Commission will form a tribunal to announce U Sein Win of People Party as a disqualified person.
