IDPs double in Ann Township

Rakhine State, Ann Township, Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp No. 1 Chairman Than Cho confirmed to Mizzima News that there were about 1,000 IDPs taking refuge in two camps operating in Ann Township and they were facing difficulties in shortage of food supplies and accommodation.

“The IDPs who arrived here said that the area clearing operations would be launched in their area. They were told to move from their homes and stay with nearby friends and relatives. Food supplies in our camp have been out of stock for over three months. So they had to move to town when the food supplies emptied at their camps. There are camps (1) and (2) here. Previously there were only over 500 IDPs in these camps. Now it has been increased to nearly 1,000,” camp number (1) chairman Than Cho said.
