Yangon Mayor Maung Maung Soe said that they would pay negotiated compensation to for private lands included in Yangon elevated railroad project.

“Lands are owned by YCDC. The project will be implemented by Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications. At the current stage survey work has started. We need accurate surveys and measurements for this project. In some places, lands owned by government departments will be included and in some places there will be private residences. They must be accurately and precisely designated and demarcated. Currently we are working on a survey,” Mayor Maung Maung Soe said.

The elevated railroad which will connect east and west Yangon is being led by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and it will reportedly have 13 stations.

According to sources from Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications, the project will be executed in two parts, the first part will be Hlinetharyar in west Yangon-South Dagon in east Yangon and Toegyaungalay and the second part will be Dala in north Yangon-Yangon Central Station-Mingaladon Airport.

JICA a gave loan for the project and the feasibility study will be concluded in 2019. The entire project will be reportedly finished in 2035.
