Myanmar issues alert for dengue fever

Myanmar’s Health and Sports Ministry has issued an alert for high mortality risk of dengue fever infections as the country sees its way the monsoon season.

Myanmar reported 2,862 dengue fever infection cases with 20 deaths as of June 27, according to the ministry.

Sagaing region registered the most infection cases of the mosquito-borne disease, followed by Mandalay region and Mon state, respectively, according to a media report.

Myanmar is currently under alert for the coronavirus or COVID-19 that has so far registered just over 300 cases and six deaths.
