The Myanmar military has announced an extension of suspension period of its operation to the end of November, Xinhua reported.

The move came with the aim to carry out effective prevention, control and treatment measures against COVID-19, to successfully hold free and fair elections and to implement eternal peace in the country, a statement said.

The military's operations will be suspended in the areas excluding those where government-designated terrorist groups are active.
