Myanmar has stopped issuing e-visas and visas on arrival for all countries and said it would quarantine travelers arriving from nine more coronavirus-hit countries, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, and Population.

The measures have been put in place until 30 April as a result of the perceived threat posed by the COVID-19 virus. 

However, Myanmar has not registered any cases so far of people contracting the virus.

Although occasional rumours have been spread on social media, sparking some panic buying in Yangon and Mandalay, nobody has tested positive.

Travelers from Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Iran, China and South Korea have been under quarantine restrictions since 15 March. Now all passengers arriving from the United States, UK, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Denmark have to go into quarantine for 14 days.
