Union Betterment Party (UBP) leader Thura Shwe Mahn told the media that his party does not have an alliance with the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) party or the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

“In reply to your question, we don’t have an alliance with NLD party and also with USDP. We don’t have an alliance with any other party yet but we have a policy of working together with any party, any individual, for the interests of the state and people. We don’t see any party as an enemy,”UBP leader Thura Shwe Mahn said.

Thura Shwe Mahn was speaking at a meeting with party youth leaders from Yangon Region, held at City Yangon Hotel in Kyauktada Township, Yangon, on October 11.

The party leader said ordinary people and members of the old party have been in touch and their suggestions and discussions have been good.

“It is premature to say how many seats we will win in the coming elections and what percentage of popular votes we will get. People’s interest in our party is heightened. I would like to say there are many people who came and had discussions with us,” Thura Shwe Mann said.

This meeting was attended by youth leaders, political activists and some artistes. The youth leaders discussed subjects and matters related with the party and social community.

Film actor Naing Lu who came and attended this meeting said, “Since this party is constituted with elders who have rich experience in the military, social and in their life, we will pay respect to them and we will obey their policy, advice and programme in doing our part of the duty in performing arts.”
