Many refugees do not accept the NV card which will be issued to them by Myanmar authorities when they come back to Myanmar.

Regarding to this NV or National Verification card, a responsible official from Immigration Department said that the family tree of each returnee would be checked but their citizenship status would not be degraded.

Immigration Department Deputy Director Thant Zin said, “This NV card is nothing. This is just a token while the applicant was applying for citizenship or naturalized citizenship. This card is not designated with any status.”

The prime cause for delaying of repatriation of these Bangladesh refugees is this NV card. It depends on the mandatory process in applying for this document, National Verification Card. The refugees do not want this card but they want only citizenship directly.
