Mandalay Region Police Force Deputy Region Police Head Pol. Col. Ko Ko Lwin told Mizzima that they are increasing security with more deployment of police personnel and enhanced arms and ammunition.

He said that they had tightened the security of Mandalay more than usual after the Northern Alliance forces attacked the Defence Services Technology Academy (DSTA) in Pyinoolwin on August 15.

“We deploy more security forces for maintaining law and order in our routine security wors. And also we are providing more arms and ammunition to our personnel. We are doing inspection work and searching at all checkpoints stationed at all entries and exits of the city,” Pol. Col. Ko Ko Lwin said.

The security check and searches are being reportedly done at checkpoints both regularly and under surprise deployment, including some security forces dressed in civilian clothes.

“We are doing these security measures in all forms but we cannot elaborate with more details,” Pol. Col. added.
Mandalay Region Police Force requested all residents of the city to inform them about any suspicious movements and persons.
