Myanmar nationals staying in some foreign countries have started their casting of absentee ballots for the 2020 general elections.

In Singapore, where there are over 30,000 absentee voters, casting of absentee ballots has started on October 1 and it will be closed on October 18. Similarly Myanmar nationals in South Korea have started their absentee ballots at the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul on October 2 in the morning.

In Thailand, there are over 39,000 voters applied for absentee ballots and they will start their absentee ballot voting on October 3 and it will close on October 13. Absentee Myanmar voters in Malaysia will cast their absentee ballots from October 9 to 12.

One of these absentee voters, Win Naing, said that voters coming for absentee ballots in South Korea on October 2 were too many and then they had to stand in queue for their turn and after that the embassy gave some of them a token number and told them to come the following day.

Polling dates for absentee ballots in South Korea are from October 2 to 12. Over 10,000 voters applied for absentee ballots at the Seoul Myanmar Embassy and over 9,800 are reportedly granted the ability to cast absentee ballots.
