Survey work for Sino-Myanmar railway begins

 Survey work for the Sino-Myanmar railway and soil testing is now being conducted by China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co. Ltd. The new railway track will connect Mandalay with Kunming.

The test will be conducted until April in two parts.

In the first part, Nawnghkio-Lashio sector will take place from January 6 to April 13 and the second part, Lashio-Muse sector from January 15 to April 2.

Responsible persons from the two countries met in Muse on January 5.

This Muse-Mandalay rail track will be 431-Km long. There will be 7 stations for passenger and freight trains and 5 stations for passenger trains along with 24 junction stations. Electric locomotives will run at the speed of 160 Kmph.

After completion of survey and soil test work, the Ministry of Transport and Communication will invite tenders for construction of the new railway.
