Customs directorate to sell seized commodities, electric and electronic goods by auction

Electric and electronic goods, commodities and car spare parts seized by Mobile Team 2 and the customs department will be sold by auction through the customs directorate, said an official.
Commodities seized by Mobile Team and the customs department during April this year and last financial year would be sold by auction said U Kyaw Win, the director of the customs directorate.
The customs department seized illegalgoods, for which no tax had been paid, worth Ks 434.80 million during the April 2015-16 budget year said the department in a statement.
Commodities and goods that will be sold by auction include mobile handsets, electric and electronic goods, commodities and foodstuffs, toiletries, kitchenware and car spare parts said the official.
Commodities to be sold by auction are divided into two - those with owners and those without, he added.
In the last budget year, there were 728 seizures of commodities for whichno tax had been paid with an estimated value of Ks 4582.62 million at Yangon Airport and ports.
The auction will be held at the customs warehouse in Ahlone Township and logistics and transportation branch inside the main material department of former Myanmar Timber Enterprise on May 19.
