Meliá Hotels set to open new hotel in Yangon

The newly built Meliá Yangon hotel will be next to Inya Lake and will feature 429 rooms, a spa, a variety of restaurants and a wide range of meeting facilities. In addition, it will be part of a mixed-use complex including office buildings, apartments and a commercial center.
According to Meliá Hotels International’s Vice President for Asia Pacific, Bernardo Cabot, “Meliá Yangon represents a new milestone for our committed growth in the Asia Pacific and we are eager to bring our most international brand to Myanmar . . . This outstanding hotel will boost our brand awareness within the region, and I’m sure it will be the opening door to get into other destinations within the country.”
Meliá Hotels will partner with Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL). According to Myanmar’s Ministry of Tourism there were 287 Hotels and Guest house in the commercial capitol and Vietnam was the second largest foreign investor in Hotel and Commercial enterprises after Singapore in 2014.
