Belarus, Myanmar sign memorandum of cooperation

The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the House of Nationalities of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar have signed a memorandum of cooperation Belarusian News reported on 25 May.
The document was inked by Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Speaker of the House of Nationalities of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar Khin Aung Myint.
“We have discussed many issues, agreed on the implementation of new projects. Special attention was focused on cooperation in agriculture and, in particular, in the sales of farm equipment and tractors, possible creation of agricultural cooperatives in Myanmar with Belarus' participation,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.
Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Myanmar were established on 22 September 1999. In 2014, the bilateral trade made up $11 million, of them $10.6 million of the Belarusian export and $0.4 million of the import. In January-March 2015, the trade between the two countries totalled $797,000. The Belarusian export made up $767,000. The import was $30,000. Belarus' main exports to Myanmar include special-purpose equipment and potash fertilizers.
The parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the House of Nationalities of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar Khin Aung Myint arrived in Minsk on the invitation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on 21 May. During the official visit, the head of the delegation met with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov, Speaker of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Speaker of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko. The guests also paid a visit to a number of companies, socially important, historical, and cultural facilities.
