(Commentary) Some economic watchers remark, "When Uncle Sam sneezes, the whole world catches cold." Now, as Uncle Sam has caught a bad cold in the face of a severe economic downturn, investment and trading partners are scrambling to stop a domino effect taking its toll on their own economic interests.

(Commentary) The nomination by outgoing U.S. President George Bush of Michael Green as Special Envoy and Policy Chief for Burma will likely be swiftly confirmed without hindrance by Congress. The appointment is a long overdue action that should have taken place years ago after the bloody Depayin incident, not to mention following last year's 2007 Saffron Revolution.

(Commentary) Burmese pro-democracy groups, especially along Burma's borders and abroad, are in crisis. And the crisis recently got worse as the exile government NCGUB along with some other Burmese groups didn't endorse the failed credential campaign at the UN filed by an alliance of exile groups, namely the NCUB led by Maung Maung. |
