Plight of Kachin refugees, IDPs
Our short film, Ongoing impunity: Atrocities Against the Kachin People, documents interviews with villagers who have suffered human rights violations by the Burma Army during the continuing war against Kachin resistance forces. Since the Burmese regime broke its 17-year ceasefire with the Kachin Independence Army in June 2011, Burmese troops have deliberately targeted civilians with killings, torture and sexual violence, displacing at least 75,000 people during the past year.

Ambassador of Conscience Award
After more than 20 years of house arrest in Myanmar. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was final able to travel to Dublin to receive Amnety Internationals highest honour, the Ambassador of Conscience Award. Secretary General was in Ireland to give the award with other notable attendees. Aung San Suu Kyi later addressing the crowds who came to enjoy the occasion.
