Ema Kheital, meaning Mother's Market in Imphal, Manipur. is almost 500-year-old and has about women 5000 traders.  The market has long been a part of Manipuri tradition with evidence suggesting that it dates back to the 16th Century.  Mizzima's photographer Thura recently took a trip there to document this unique market which is managed on a credit system to support needy women traders.
