The junta-backed civilian organization Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA), popularly predicted to contest this year's planned elections, has reportedly begun constructing roads in Rangoon’s Bo Sein Man area with large signboards advertising their work. The district court inside the notorious Insein prison is set to announce the verdict on four women activists on February 15. Photo – Mizzima. The four including popular activist Naw Ohn Hla, are supporters of detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and held regular prayers for her release at Pagodas. They were arrested while returning from donating alms in a Buddhist monastery and were charged with instigating public unrest. They have been detained for the past four months. Naing Htaw Mon, Chairman of the New Mon State Party (NMSP), the largest armed ceasefire group in Mon State, during a speech at the National Day celebration said the NMSP has rejected the junta’s proposal of transforming its troops into a Border Guard Force under the administration of the junta.
