Playing for the first time in Myanmar, legendary Italian pianist Stefano Bollani sent the audience into a tizzy last night.
Playing to a full audience at the Strand Hotel, downtown Yangon, Bollani was playing his repertoire in one of the most evocative places in Yangon.
The event was organized by the Italian embassy under the concept “Italy in Myanmar 2017”, a cultural program organized by the Embassy of Italy to promote their country in Myanmar through a series of initiatives aimed at showing Italian excellence in the fields of arts, cinematography, music, fashion, design and cuisine.
“Both Italy and Myanmar value culture and art. They are nations built on the legacy of ancient civilizations, with a centuries-long history that we can use today to pave the way to our future, " said Pier Giorgio Aliberti , Italian ambassador to Myanmar.
"Music represents a way to connect and share our cultures, as it is a universal language that can get people from different backgrounds close to each other.” He said.
