Myanmar band joins ASEAN-India Music Festival

The Ugly Band from Myanmar is one of a dozen groups from ASEAN countries taking part in a three day celebrating of the 25th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations in New Delhi.
Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in collaboration with Ministry of Culture and Seher presents the first ever ASEAN-India Music Festival from October 6-8 at Purana Quila in New Delhi.
The Festival is being organised to celebrate the 25th year anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations. The theme for this commemorative year "Shared Values, Common Destiny” along with this Music Festival aims to boost cultural influences among the peoples of the ASEAN member states and India.
The ASEAN-India Music Festival will witness eclectic performances by musicians of 10 enigmatic bands from member states of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam) along with 5 prominent Indian bands.
The three-day festival will include performances by ASEAN bands such as The Ugly Band (Myanmar), Cherpen (Malaysia), Tim De Cotta (Singapore), Kong Southearith (Cambodia), Red Bamboo (Vietnam), L’alphalpha (Indonesia), Nam Fon Indee (Lao PDR), A Band Once (Brunei Darussalam), Asia7 (Thailand) and The Ransom Collective (Philippines).
The Festival will also witness performances by famous Indian bands like the Raghu Dixit Project, Avial, Papon LIVE, Bipul Chettri and the Travelling Band, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
The three-day music festival would entail free entry for music lovers from all walks of life to get together and enjoy, according to the Indian external affairs ministry.
