Four students have been reported missing for four days in Kachin state where abductions of civilians by human traffickers, the national army, and ethnic militias are common, a local official said Thursday, according to an RFA report.
Two of the students are in the eighth grade and two are in the ninth grade at Mya Thida High School in Hopin, a subtownship of Mohnyin township, said township administrator Soe Moe Aung.
Hpakant township experienced fighting in April between the Myanmar military and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), displacing hundreds, if not thousands, of civilians, the report said.
