Logging along the Bago Yoma mountain range will be prohibited for the next ten years, according to the Department of Forestry that operates under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, state media said.
The Department of Forestry has stated that as of 2015 the mountain range is 26 per cent forest, accounting for 9m acres.
Once logging resumes the size and circumference of trees will be taken into account prior to logging, according to the report.
