Former major Kyaw Swar Win, who signed a petition for the amendment of section 436, is among 6966 prisoners released in an amnesty according to U Tun Kyi, member of the Former Political Prisoners (FPPs) organisation. 
Section 436 prescribes that constitutional amendment needs the approval of more than 75 percent or three-fourths of all members of parliament.
“The release of political prisoners is not enough to be satisfied. We guess at there are at least seven including former major Kyaw Swar Win, five from Montenay journal, and farmers from Kantbalu” said U Tun Kyi.
Although there is news that remaining former intelligence prisoners are also include in the amnestytheir names are yet to be released.
Amnesty was given by the president in accordance with constitutional law and more than 200 political prisoners were also included in the amnesty, according to the Ministry of Information.
