Myanmar is willing to cooperate fully with Malaysiain resolving the conflict in Rakhine State and the humanitarian crisis in the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea, according to a report from the Star online, 21 May.
Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has said Myanmar's Foreign Minister, U Wunna Maung Lwin, had informed him that his government was always concerned about development in Rakhine State.
“The Myanmar government will continue to provide aid and implement economic development and social programmes in the region,” Mr Anifah said in a statement.
Anifah met U Wunna at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on Thursday where they discussed various measures necessary in tackling the critical humanitarian crisis.
Anifah said he had also sought an assurance from the Myanmar government to assist in tackling the crisis while emphasising the importance of Myanmar identifying the main cause and resolving the problem.
