The Thailand based Myanmar Migrant Workers Education and Development Foundation Executive Director Htoo Chit told Mizzima that the Myanmar Human Rights Commission would send a letter to the Thai government regarding the arrest of four Myanmar migrant workers in connection with a murder case in Ranong, Thailand.
Ranong police arrested four Myanmar migrant workers Moe Zin Aung (16), Kyaw Soe Win (15), Sein Gadone (23) and Wai Lin aka Zaw Lay (21), in connection with the murder, on 28 September 2015, of Ma Apple aka Ei Poke (16) who lived in Soi Lu Jing Block, Ranong District.
The Myanmar Migrant Workers Education and Development Foundation has a plan to see officials from the Labour Ministry in Naypyitaw on June 15 to discuss rights and grievances faced by Myanmar migrant workers in Thailand.
Htoo Chit said, “Two Myanmar workers were sentenced to death in the Koh Tao murder case. We are worried about these four Myanmar workers facing a similar fate in this case too. The Myanmar government should cooperate before giving judgment in this case,”
The Myanmar workers will put on trial on June 29, the Myanmar Human Rights Commission will give legal aid to the four accused in this case.
