SNLD have not yet confirmed the resignation of their chairman

Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD) party Secretary Sai Nyunt Lwin told Mizzima that they had no comment yet about the news on the resignation of Chairman Khun Htun Oo.
“We cannot confirm yet this news as we have not yet received this letter so that we cannot yet confirm it,” SNLD Secretary Sai Nyunt Lwin said.
Khun Htun Oo aged 75 is a veteran politician and he is one of the founders of SNLD party which was formed after the 1988 popular uprising.
Shan state based Shan Pai Journal editor-in-charge Sai Zin said, “Most of the people want to see him leading the party. He is leading not only SNLD but also other alliance parties. So most of the people don’t want him resigning from the chairman post.”
Shan veteran politician Khun Htun Oo contested in the 1990 general elections from Hsipaw constituency and he won this seat.
He led the SNLD party as Chairman for over 30 years and he was once sentenced to 93 years in prison for his political activities and served six years in Putao prison in Kachin State.
