Tatmadaw says it wishes to get peace while NLD is in power
Joint Monitoring Committee-Union (JMC-U) Vice-Chairman Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae.

Joint Monitoring Committee-Union (JMC-U) Vice-Chairman Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae said that they wished to get peace while National League for Democracy (NLD) government was in power.
He was speaking at the opening address of the 17th meeting of JMC-U held at National Reconciliation and Peace Centre (NRPC) in Shweli Road, Yangon.
JMC-U Vice-Chairman Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae said, “Our Tatmadaw (military) would like to get lasting and concrete peace during the tenure of this government. Our C-in-C has the same opinion as us.”
He added that Democratic Federal Union would not be realized if armed groups did not renounce their armed struggle.
The Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) was the sole strategy to get lasting and concrete peace so ethnic armed groups should abide the commitments that they made, Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae said.
Similarly, JMC-U Vice-Chairman (1) Maj. Gen. Saw Isaac Poe also urged building peace by stopping war.
“Conflicts made suffering on both sides and it is negative for the country so leaders in each group should consider the loss of forces which will be necessary in defending our future genuine federal union,” Saw Isaac Poe said.
JMC is an organization formed for reconciliation among ethnic armies and Tatmadaw when fighting erupts.
JMC meeting which is being attended by representatives of ethnic armed groups and Tatmadaw will be held from July 3 to 5.
