More than 260 Myanmar migrants, including 104 undocumented labourers who were forced to work in Thailand, have been rescued by responsible organizations of Thailand and Myanmar, state media reported on 29 August.
In cooperation with Myanmar Association in Thailand (MAT), Aid Alliance Committee for Myanmar Workers (AAC), officials from the Myanmar Embassy, Thailand’s Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and Thailand Ministry of Labour, a combined team raided a factory and rescued the workers.
According to investigators, the migrants had worked at the factory for over six months and had not been paid by the employer.
