India and Myanmar sign four major deals

During talks yesterday between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President U Htin Kyaw both sides exchanged several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) which included four major deals including one for the construction of as many as 69 bridges on the Tamu-Kyeekon-Kalewa Road section, which is considered a trilateral highway in Myanmar.
The two sides also exchanged MoUs on construction of Paletwa-Yargyi road section on the highway, cooperation in traditional medicine, and renewable energy sectors.
PM Modi was quoted in Myanmar state media as saying that Myanmar holds a unique position in India’s neighbourhood, adding that the longstanding cultural and historical linkages between the two countries form a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
