Indian intelligence agency arrests NSCN-K leader


The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the June 4 killing of 18 soldiers in Manipur's Chandel district, on Monday took into custody a top National Socialist Council of Nagaland - Khaplang (NSCN-K) leader for interrogation according to a Times of India report on 30 June.

NIA sources said the leader was allegedly involved in the conspiracy behind the June 4 killing of 18 personnel of 6 Dogra Regiment in an ambush at Paralon village in Manipur's Chandel district bordering Myanmar.

Granting an application filed by the NIA, the Special Court (NIA) in Imphal on Monday granted custody remand of the rebel leader Khumlo Abi Anal (40) who is a self-styled chairman of the NSCN-K Amamchat region in Chandel.

The special courtgranted Khumlo's remand for nine days until July 7, a source said.
