Myanmar wants improved relations with Bangladesh in a bid to establish security cooperation between the two countries ProthomAlo reported on 2 September.

The country has agreed to sign two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh to spur security cooperation.

Officials in the foreign ministry told ProthomAlo on Sunday that the process has been finalised to sign two MoUs on land border cooperation, and security dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.

A foreign ministry official said Bangladesh has proposed a framework agreement on improving mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries. The draft of the framework agreement was prepared in the foreign secretary level talks between the two countries in August last year, identifying eight areas of cooperation.

It would be finalised once Myanmar gives the go-ahead after its scrutiny.
