Two injured in Thai-Cambodia border clash

E-mail Print PDF

Two Thai soldiers were wounded today in an altercation between Thai and Cambodian soldiers in a disputed border region, according to Thai media.

Both injuries occurred during a clash at Pa Mo I Daeng in Si Sa Ket province. Despite there being no mention of casualties from the Cambodian media, the Thai daily newspaper The Nation cited Army spokesperson Sansern Kaeowkamnerd as confirming the casualty figures.

The two countries each claim ownership of the ancient temple complex of Preah Vihear along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Recently, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen vowed to open war if Thai troops were not withdrawn from the disputed area near the temple. But thus far, Thai forces remain entrenched in their positions.
