December 5, 2008: A private gasoline station and a car were gutted in a fire a suburban township of Mandalay city on Friday, an official at the Mandalay central fire station said.

The fire, which raged for about a brief 20 minutes, started at about 10:40 a.m. (local time) at the private fuel station on 35th street of Aung Pinle ward in Mandalay, burning down a car and about ten barrels of diesel, the officer told Mizzima.

"The fire started at the 'Pyi Kyaw' fuel station, but it did not burn other houses," the officer said. He, however, failed to give details.

Aung Pinle is located in the east of Mandalay city. And though the ward does not have too many residents, it is filled with private fuel houses as the highway from Mandalay to Pyin Oo Lwin town, which connects Shan state of eastern Burma, runs through the ward.
