Chiang Mai (Mizzima) - Thailand's new Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Wednesday that it was time there was change in military-ruled Burma.
The premier's remark came during a political discussion at a dinner party at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand (FCCT).
He told reporters that whatever happened in Burma had an impact on the region as a whole, and that was the reason why Thailand would persuade the military rulers to usher in change in the country.
Abhisit Vejjajiva was elected Thailand's new premier after anti-government demonstrations forced the cabinet of the Peoples' Power Party (PPP) led coalition government to put in its papers.
After assuming power as the new premier he, told reporters, "We all want to see changes in Burma."
