CDMA mobiles permitted in Napyitaw

(Mizzima) – The Burmese junta has started to permit the use of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile phones in its new jungle capital of Napyitaw in central Burma, a mobile user in Naypyitaw said. Since the shift of the capital from Rangoon to Naypyitaw on November 6, 2005, the regime had banned the use of public phones, including mobile phones, in a bid to check flow of information relating to the new capital. The CDMA mobile phones have been permitted since Sunday, the mobile user said. < Prev   Next >
