Mingala market in Rangoon on fire

New Delhi (Mizzima) -The Mingala Market in Mingala Taung Nyunt Township, Rangoon, caught fire around 8:20 am today.

The fire started in the topmost storey of the Mingala Market, housing drugstores and furniture shops. It spread to the lower storeys, fire department officials told Mizzima over telephone.

An eyewitness said fire engines arrived on the spot 30 minutes after the fire was noticed.

A crowd gathered to watch the fire, which was said to be big.

An owner of a kitchen accessories store in Mingala Market said, “My employees telephoned me about the fire at 9 am. The fire started in the fourth storey and then spread to the third storey.”

The fire had not been extinguished till 10:30 am Burmese time.
