Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – A fire at the U Kyar Gyi Compound at the corner of 35th Road and 84th Road in Yadanar Bhumi West Quarter in Mahaaungmyay Township in Mandalay on Tuesday morning caused an estimated damage of 4 million kyat (US$ 5,000), according to the Mandalay Region Fire Department.

The fire started as petrol was being discharged into a plastic bucket, igniting and gutting a two-story house and a building where car tyres were stored.

More than 50 fire engines responded to the fire, officials said. About 70 part-time firemen, monks and residents helped firemen put out the fire.
