Fire guts three homes in Rangoon

Rangoon (Mizzima) – Fire broke out on 29th Sagaing Road in Quarter No. 5 in South Okkalapa Township in Rangoon on Wednesday, gutting three homes and leaving about 20 people from four families homeless, according to the Township Fire Department.

The fire started about 3:30 p.m. in a house owned by Tun Oo. Lower House MP Aung Thein Lin of South Okkalapa Township Constituency (from the Union Solidarity and Development Party) donated 50,000 kyat, kitchen accessories, drinking water, blankets and pillows to the victims, according to residents, who said he fire was started by an electrical malfunction.

The victims took refuge in a religious hall in the quarter.
