Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – Luc Besson’s movie “The Lady” starring Michelle Yeoh as Aung San Suu Kyi will be shown at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, according to The New York Times.

The festival will open with “From the Sky Down” a documentary on the band U2 and Bono that chronicles the creation of the band’s 1991 album “Achtung Baby.” The festival runs from September 8 to 18 and will include movies “The Dangerous Method,” “The Ides of March” and “Moneyball.”

“The Lady,” named after Burmese pro-democracy leader Suu Kyi’s nickname in Burma, is a movie that focuses on the sacrifices she made for the cause of democracy in Burma. It charts her marriage to British academic and Tibet scholar Michael Aris, played in the film by David Thewlis.
