(Mizzima) – The speaker of Burma’s Lower House of Parliament, Shwe Mann, left Naypyitaw on Wednesday for a five-day official goodwill visit to China, Burma’s strongest ally and economic partner.
Leading a parliamentary delegation, Shwe Mann is making the trip as a guest of Wu Bangguo, the chairman of the Standing Committee of the China National People's Congress, according to an article by the Xinhua news agency on Wednesday.
Shwe Mann told Xinhua on the eve of the visit that the trip is aimed at promoting friendly and cooperative relations. Besides Beijing, Shwe Mann will also visit Tianjin.
