Burmese athletes included in London Paralympic games

Two Burmese disabled athletes, Win Naing and Naing Sitt Aung, are competing in the London Paralympic Games. The games will run until Sept. 11.

Win Naing will compete in track and field and Naing Sitt Aung in swimming.

The seven-member sports delegation includes Vice President Myo Myint of the Myanmar Disabled Athletes Federation; secretary Peter; board member Thein Win; and coach Aung Myint Tun.

The Kachin’s last stand
Since October this year, Burma has been in a state of civil war, with fighting between Burmese military and armed ethnic rebels. The ruling junta started a crackdown on these armed groups.
