Burmese villages get public telephone boxes

A total of 3,627 pubic telephone boxes have been installed in 1,427 village tracts in seven districts around Mandalay, the Burmese state-run newspaper reported on Tuesday.
A plan is under way to install more GSM and CDMA services in populous villages to expand the telecommunication system, the telecommunication department said.
