Authorities in Monywa town of Upper Burma have rung the warning bell of possible flood on Friday evening as the water in Chindwin River rises far above the danger level.

Authorities have ordered residents living in wards and villages near the bank of the Chindwin River to move to schools far from the river bank, local residents said.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The music industry in Burma has almost ground to a halt because of the pirated CDs. We could do nothing in the last two to three years. Some singers performed in concerts promoting the sale of their music albums in VCDs. But economically it is not viable,"

Singer and song writer Saung Oo Hlaing
