Rangoon (Mizzima) - A Burmese Army soldier, who collapsed at the welcome ceremony of the Indian Vice-President M. Hamid Ansari on February 5 in Nay Pyi Taw has been detained, said sources close to the military establishment.

The photograph of the soldier who fainted and collapsed was run on the front pages of the Mirror and the New Light of Myanmar Newspaper, published on February 6, 2009.

Vice-Senior General Maung Aye squarely put the blame on the Information Minister Brigadier General Kyaw Hsan for his staff's negligence.

All the daily newspapers in Burma are state run newspapers that are heavily into publishing the regime's propaganda.

A Nay Pyi Taw-based newsman said the soldier collapsed because of the continuous parade in the hot weather in Nay Pyi Taw, the new jungle capital of Burma.

The reason why the soldier is detained is yet to be confirmed.

The Indian delegation visited Burma from February 5 to 8.
