New Delhi (Mizzima) – Diarrhea has broken out in Monywa Township in Sagaing Division.
A doctor of a private clinic said “there are a lot of diarrhea patients from all blocks. The number of patients is high. There are almost three diarrhea patients among every five patients coming in. A clinic has to treat 30 diarrhea patients a day.”
“The disease is spreading due to the high temperature and unhygienic food. Because of the hot weather bacteria is breeding in food,” he added.
“I saw many children with diarrhea in the clinic, when I went to admit my son who has diarrhea. The children’s ward in the hospital is terribly crowded with children suffering from diarrhea. Similarly pediatric clinics have many children with diarrhea,” said, a mother.
The Monywa meteorology department said the temperature was 38 degree centigrade in Monywa.
“All patients with diarrhea have not got cholera as yet but some are close to it. We have to take care while treating them,” said a doctor.
Since yesterday evening, Monywa Township’s health department has been issuing warnings regarding diarrhea over loud-speakers in the town.
Some of people were said to have died from diarrhea in Rangoon, Mandalay and Mague divisions this month.
