Famous journalist Kyae Mone U Thaung (Aung Ba La) has passed away at the age of 82 from lung disease in the United States.
He had been hospitalized at the Florida Medical Center in the United States since March 10, being treated for tuberculosis and lung weakness. His condition continued to deteriorate from water entering the lungs.

"Saya Thaung peacefully passed away yesterday at about 10:00 p.m." his wife Tin Tin Win told Mizzima.

She continued, "People loved him and I told him he was a human with great dignity. He lived as an ordinary human being and he was dutiful to his family".

Kyae Mone U Thaung, Chief-editor of the Thailand-based Khitpyaing journal, entered the world of the Burmese literature community by writing satire, plays and humor. Later, as a newspaperman, he wrote commentary on politics, economics and social affairs. He wrote about 30 books on various issues, in later life writing about Burma's dictator Ne Win and other military leaders.

Details for his funeral ceremony are not yet set. In addition to his wife, he is succeeded by five children.
