New Delhi - A prominent ethnic political leader of Burma, Pu Cin Sian Thang, was rushed to Rangoon general hospital on Saturday morning, when a military truck hit his taxi while he was traveling in town, a political ally said.
"He was in a taxi in downtown Rangoon, when a military truck hit his vehicle," Thawng Kho Thang, a political ally said.
Pu Cin Sian Thang, an elected Member of Parliament of the Zomi National Congress (ZNC), an ethnic political party, was in the taxi when it was hit on the rear by a military truck that was being used to clean debris and uprooted trees by Cyclone Nargis. He suffered injuries on his right shoulder, a family member said.
"He was immediately rushed to the Rangoon general hospital and is now under treatment as an in patient," the family member said.
The veteran ethnic political leader was returning from an eye specialist when he met with the accident, added the family member, who did not want to be named.
Pu Cin Sian Thang is one among the two elected MPs from the ZNC in the 1990 elections and is a central committee member of the Committee Representing Peoples' Parliament (CRPP), an umbrella group of elected MPs.
